  • Trench warfare, pros and cons
Pros of trench warfare: 
The pros of trench warfare are that the trenches were a fantastic form of defence against enemy aircraft and bombs as the soldiers could quickly retreat into a covered area or a bomb shelter. Also because of trenches the soldiers had a safe area where there was protection against enemy fire. Other pros of trench warfare included easy access to supplies and food, spare ammunition and guns and quarters were the soldiers could rest.

Cons of trench warfare:
The cons of trench warfare in WW1 were that very few people liked fighting in trenches because it took a few months, even a few years to gain a few feet of ground and it caused thousands of deaths for the soldiers. The trenches were very dirty as they were scattered with bodies of fallen soldiers, rats, used ammunition and rubbish. One of the  main causes of death in the war was diseases from living in the trenches,
